Homemade Natural Cleaners for Your Home

Different sources detail different information. This is always an issue. However, there are some absolute truths. The commercial cleaners we use to clean our homes with are not required to provide a full list of their ingredients on the bottle. Go check it. I'll wait.

See?

Most of those cleaners have strong warnings about contact with skin. Again, I'll wait.

Ok.

Most of them indicate that they are indeed toxic in some form or another. Did you check?

My questions then are these. What are these poisons doing in my home? Why am I cleaning my house with poison? Isn't there a better way?

Turns out there is a better way. And it's sitting in my pantry, for the most part. White vinegar actually kills bacteria. And although it tastes horrible, it won't kill my kids if they accidentally drink it. Baking soda softens clothes in the laundry and deodorizes. And again, won't kill the kids. Cloves and Cinnamon, boiled in a few cups of water on the stove, provides all the air freshener I need for my house.

People cleaned their homes before commercial cleaners were available. And while it takes a bit more elbow grease to use natural cleaners, you know what's in homemade cleaners. So time for a few more questions then. Is the safety of your family worth the time it takes to make and use home made cleaning products? What does it hurt to try it out?
