About Jim Nanney

Jim Nanney is an embedded systems developer living in Biloxi, MS. He has been living there since 1993.

He is a self proclaimed "Linux Geek" and an avid user of Fedora Linux. Fedora is a Linux-based operating system that showcases the latest in free and open source software. Jim has been a volunteer on the Fedora Free Media Program and served as a Fedora Ambassador. He is also an active member of the South Mississippi Linux Users Group. There he contributes some of his knowledge of Linux and Fedora, as well as receives that same knowledge in return.

Professional Career

Jim is an embedded systems developer working from his home in Biloxi. He has helped developed many systems including an NIST Evaluated Project called the Sentinel on which he is still currently involved.

He also developed a Voucher Redemption Terminal to redeem slot tickets for cash.

He has spent ten years as a developer and five years prior to that as a System Administrator and Network Engineer.

His initial start into the Information Technology Industry came as a Sysop of a BBS entitled Remote Access BBS in Memphis TN at the age of 15. He has run several other BBS Systems since that time, with his latest being Flyin' High BBS in Houston, TX, prior to retiring the Sysop hat.

Hobbies and Personal Time

Jim spends his free time with his wife and three beautiful daughters.

Their latest endeavor is to learn to speak the French language together.
